The Anvil Centre where culture, community, and commerce meet in the heart of downtown New Westminster serves as an arts and culture venue as well as a conference and meeting place. Here you will find the New Westminster Museum and Archives where you can explore 10,000 years of New Westminster history, the New Media Gallery where you will find international, national, and regional contemporary art, the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and the tourist information centre. The Anvil Centre has a 350 seat theatre that hosts music and live theatre shows.

irving-houseIrving House, located at 302 Royal Avenue, is the oldest house in the Metro Vancoucver area. Built in 1865, Irving House was designed in the Gothic Revival style. There you can discover the lifestyles of pioneers who helped establish the City of New Westminster.

New Westminster is home to many parks including Queens Park, Albert Crescent Park, Moody Park, and more. You will find many trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, and sports fields where you can watch local sports events. At Moody Park you can go lawn bowling, play tennis, go for a swim in the outdoor pool, or perhaps take your kids to the children's adventure playground.

Take a stroll along the River Market where you can take a close look at the world's tallest tin soldier. Then hop aboard the N.V. Native for a scenic paddlewheel boat cruise along the Fraser River. Paddlewheel Riverboat Tours offers a variety of tours including sunset dinner cruises, Pitt Lake backcountry tours, and cruises of historic Fort Langley.

Friday Front Block Parties are held on Front Street in July and August. There you can sample food from many food vendors while meeting new people and enjoying live entertainment.
